Borough Manager Cindy Wells said discussions are ongoing to purchase the American Legion ball field and combine it with the borough parks system. Wells said the borough would cover closing costs if needed, funding would come from outside sources and a private donor, and Solicitor Wachter was preparing the draft agreement.
Councilor Steadman moved and Councilor Osborn seconded a motion to approve presenting the proposed agreement to the American Legion for their review; the motion carried. No final sale or transfer occurred at the Oct. 7 meeting and council emphasized that external funding commitments would be required to complete any purchase.
