The packet included a recommendation (attributed to Tom in the packet) to apply for $1–$3 million for relocating the municipal building; the chair read that suggestion and cautioned that CDS awards can take years and should be used to assist existing projects rather than be the sole funding source. “The suggestion was to apply 1 to $3,000,000 to relocate the municipal building. Please note this will take a couple of years ... It should not be used to make or break a project, but used to assist an existing project,” the chair read from the packet.
Members discussed targeting the municipal building as their first priority and a multi-use water plaza as an alternate. Several board members urged a careful, non-rushed application process and recommended assembling a competitive packet with time to refine project details and staff capacity. The board agreed to bring the full board together to select a prioritized list before submitting applications.
