The Jamaica Select Board reminded residents that an information session about whether to close Jamaica Village School will be held at the town office on March 31 at 7:00 p.m., and that the vote will be April 8 during the town's posted voting hours (9 a.m.–7 p.m.).
Committee members are assembling a presentation that balances operational carrying costs and aspirational community visioning for potential future uses of the property. A Board member said the committee hopes to present grounded financial figures about carrying costs and options for the property if the school closure proceeds. "We're trying to put together a potential vision for what could happen with the property and ... balance presenting numbers in terms of what are the carrying costs," a committee member said.
The Board encouraged residents to attend the information session and to review materials that will be posted on the town website in advance.
