The Select Board reported progress toward taking ownership of the Jamaica Village School. Chair said the town will enter a handover agreement by the end of June and expects to close the transaction at the end of September, after which the town will assume building expenses. Until closing the building remains owned by the school district but board members said limited access for assessments and planning is possible.
Board members also announced a community family dance organized by the pre-K teacher for Thursday, June 11, intended as a "last hurrah" with pre-K families and the wider community. The board discussed seeking grants and beginning assessments so the town can plan how to use the building after it becomes a town-owned asset.
