Road work on West Jamaica Road prompts signage and traffic concerns

Town staff reported that Greenmount Power is hardening lines and installing underground utilities on West Jamaica Road, work that will continue in that area for the coming weeks and is creating tight driving conditions.
A Staff member described the work: "Greenmount Power currently is, installing hardening the lines ... on West Jamaica Road." Residents and board members said the stretch is narrow and sometimes requires drivers to wait for oncoming traffic. One resident asked the board to consider adding a yield sign at the Pikes Falls/West Jamaica intersection; another member suggested a stop sign at the bridge.
The board directed the road commissioner to replace a missing stop sign and to review the sign book for appropriate curve warning signage. Staff said they will post project notices on the town website and in the post office to inform residents of construction locations and timing.
