Greg, who led the procurement discussion, reviewed five sealed bids and the state review process that required pre‑bids to be checked for compliance. He reported the bids as: AS Clark & Sons $245,840; Fitzpatrick Excavating $241,500; Thompson Site Services $275,200; Belden Construction $575,000; and Hunter Excavating $239,815. "All of these are reputable contractors," Greg said while recommending Hunter Excavating as the lowest responsive bidder. Greg moved to accept Hunter Excavating's bid and the motion was seconded by Chair; the Board approved the award by voice vote.
Board members discussed scheduling and coordination with design work and precaster availability. Greg said the construction timeline included shop drawings and that much of the schedule depends on the precaster; he added the town will coordinate the construction season and permitting with state bridge inspectors and permitting authorities. The Board noted that part of the project cost will be covered by a BTRANS/BTRANs grant with the remainder in the town budget.
Next steps include finalizing contract documents, circulating shop drawings to the contractor and precaster, and coordinating construction-season scheduling with the road foreman and state inspectors.
