Green Mountain Power outlines final-year resiliency projects for Jamaica

Tim Jones of Green Mountain Power presented the company’s final-year plan for the town’s resiliency program, saying the program “wraps up in September of this year.” He thanked the town for cooperation on prior work on Turkey Mountain and West Jamaica Road and detailed remaining projects on West Jamaica Road, Pike Falls Road and a combined overhead/underground project on South Hill/Maori Road.
Jones said Green Mountain Power would share full‑color maps, email materials to town contacts and provide a link to the company’s resiliency program website so residents can review project footprints and timing. He also confirmed that work in paved areas will be restored to “as good or better” conditions and that the company will coordinate traffic control and communications for any necessary closures.
The company explained a recent outage tied to a contractor incident and noted that, while outages can be wide-reaching, this particular event was not weather related. Town officials asked for posted maps and a direct link; GMP agreed to send electronic files and let the town post them on the municipal website. The town will monitor restoration commitments and coordination on traffic-control plans as work proceeds.
