ADS details statewide data governance and a 'data lakehouse' platform to speed analytics

Saya Raish, chief data and AI officer for the Agency of Digital Services, told the Joint Information Technology Oversight Committee that ADS is building a statewide data governance program and a next-generation data platform — a secure data 'lakehouse' — to support cross-agency analytics and reporting. "We're finishing up this project, the statewide data lakehouse project," he said, adding the infrastructure should be in place "in the next week or 2."
Raish explained the lakehouse approach as a hybrid of data lakes and warehouses: raw data is ingested into secure 'buckets' (bronze), cleaned/enriched where needed (silver), and turned into reusable, publication-ready datasets (gold). He emphasized security controls around buckets and said the model enables tiered storage, lower costs for cold data, and faster delivery of cross-agency reports than traditional warehouse-only approaches.
