Legislature and judiciary report different readiness levels; judiciary IT asks for clearer engagement

Representatives from the legislative and judicial branches gave short updates on ERP readiness and raised different concerns about IT engagement.
Kevin Moore, director of ITU for the Legislature, said his discussions with legislative HR indicated the Legislature's needs are being met "so far" and that the legislative user base (about 100 people) has smaller needs compared with the broader executive branch. "So our needs are almost certainly much smaller than the rest of the executive branch and judiciary," Moore said.
Joseph Paquin, director of infrastructure technology and cybersecurity at the judiciary, said HR's sentiment was that the new system is "better than what we have today," but that the judiciary's IT organization had not received requirements or a clear project-manager contact. He asked ADS to provide the project-manager information so the judiciary's IT staff can map needed integrations — for example, the Microsoft tenant — to avoid future cost overruns.
ADS said branch participation will increase when business-process decisions are ready and reminded branches that change champions and stakeholder sessions are planned; the committee discussed the importance of early cross-branch participation to avoid missed requirements.
