Council appoints two applicants to BZA, planning commission vacancy remains
Summary
The council approved two Board of Zoning Appeals applicants — Matt Prater and Steve Johnson (Steve approved 3–1) — but the Planning Commission remained short of members and the town will re-advertise vacancies.
At the March 24 work session Mayor Fullen and the town manager presented three expressions of interest to fill the Board of Zoning Appeals. Councilwoman Suzanne Abramson moved to appoint Matt Prater and the motion passed unanimously.
For the second candidate, Council voted 3–1 to accept Steve Johnson (Abramson voted Nay). The council noted that a third applicant who had submitted interest previously did not respond to a phone call and the town will re-run recruitment for both BZA and the Planning Commission, which still needs members. Council also noted that Brandon Frye, a town employee, is ineligible to serve on the Planning Commission under town policy.
Council asked staff to keep the applications posted on the town website and social media until vacancies are filled and to provide a report on the remaining openings at the next meeting.
