Saltville's council approved a set of administrative motions on Feb. 10: authorization for the town manager to open two Bank of Marion accounts (one for a VRA grant and one for the meter‑replacement project), approval to submit a $55,000 recreation funding request to Smyth County for FY2027, and scheduling a special called meeting on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. to receive bids for a pump‑station project tied to water‑system improvements.
Town Manager Cecile Rosenbaum explained the proposed accounts and timing; Councilwoman Suzanne Abramson moved to authorize their opening and Councilman Cary Sauls seconded. Councilman John Carter moved to file the recreation funding request with Smyth County; Councilman Sauls seconded. The council unanimously approved all motions. The special meeting will allow council to consider bids and award contracts related to the pump‑station project replacing a gravity aerial crossing on Allison Gap Road, an item reflected in department reports.
Council also voted to accept checks and routine monthly reports included in the packet. The finance motions are administrative steps intended to segregate project funds and to accelerate procurement for water‑system work.
