Executive Director Yvette Sowers highlighted forthcoming events including the California Assessors Association regional conference (Aug. 3–6) and assessment appeals training in Alameda County, and reminded members that the Taxpayer Bill of Rights hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26. Sowers also reported that Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties had been granted 30‑day extensions to complete local assessment rolls under the board’s authority.
Sowers and budget staff reported that the board expended roughly 95–96% of its FY 2025–26 appropriations and that the FY 2026–27 appropriation request totaled about $37,000,700 with $30,000,000 budgeted for personnel and $7,600,000 for operating expenses including a technology modernization project. Chief Communications Officer John Taylor described outreach and a redesigned Taxpayer Rights Advocate web page and previewed a user‑experience assessment. Acting TRA chief Amy Hendrickson reported 29 cases completed in June and steps to promote the Aug. 26 hearing including an electronic comment form and outreach toolkits.
