Meeting house cleaning under way; selectboard seeks grant help for curtain and piano

Contractors have begun cleaning Leicester’s meeting house and removed basement ductwork under a signed agreement, the selectboard heard. Chair said project work has reached window and wall restoration and that a contractor will use a specialized vacuum to address curtain issues; the board also discussed where to stage the work in the White Building.
The chair said she contacted the Vermont Community Foundation about possible funds from a Walter Cerf grant. The foundation indicated it may have funds that could cover a furnace, but the chair said she hoped the foundation might instead help with curtain cleaning and piano replacement; the board agreed to check discretionary town funds and pursue grant avenues as needed.
