LCPC outlines schedule for regional plan amendments and future land-use maps, solicits final municipal review

Staff updated the commission on the regional plan amendment process required to comply with recent legislation (Act 181 and Act 47). Marina Mierberg and other staff said amendments will touch the introduction/vision, housing, transportation, land use, working lands and flood resilience chapters and will include updates addressing broadband and telecommunications.
Staff said they completed outreach rounds with select boards, trustees and planning commissions and will continue a second round of meetings; they expect to request board authorization in November for a working draft and for staff to prepare materials for preliminary review by the Vermont Land Use Board. Staff emphasized the future land-use map is conceptual and non-regulatory and was built from town plans and public input.
The board asked how town plan updates would align with the regional amendment; staff said coordination is on a case-by-case basis and the existing document remains a usable reference until the amendment is finalized.
