The Lamoille County Planning Commission approved a resolution to support a Morrisville water-resilience project that staff said seeks nearly $4,000,000 to harden one well and relocate another after July 2023 flooding threatened local and regional water supplies.
Tasha Wallace reviewed the operational threat the flooding posed to Morrisville's well system and noted the project's regional importance because the village supplies a regional hospital. The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff will proceed with application submission and identify the lead staff for project delivery.
The board expressed support for staff retention during grant-funded work and emphasized project delivery allocations are intended to help fund staff administrative roles tied to the grant.
