The Lava Hot Springs City Council on Sept. 12 unanimously authorized Mayor Vicky Lyon to sign an Idaho Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to fund improvements at Buddy Campbell Park. Amanda Collins of the Southeastern Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG) presented the grant proposal outlining a two-phase plan: Phase 1 to focus on a playground and pavilion and Phase 2 to include pickleball and tennis courts.
Council members opened and closed a public hearing on the application and voted to proceed. Council President Rickey Frandsen made the motions associated with the hearing, and the council recorded votes with Head, Navarro, Avery and Frandsen voting in the affirmative. The motion to authorize the mayor to sign the application carried unanimously. The council did not specify construction timelines or final grant award dates during the meeting.
