Town repairs culvert after collapse, hires new highway supervisor

Separately, on April 1 a vehicle driven by Don Gale slid into a roadside ditch at 853 Quaker Street; Highway crews repaired the ditch on April 2 and the incident is recorded for potential follow‑up.
Trish also announced that the Highway Supervisor position was offered to Josh Martell and accepted; his start date is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026. The Selectboard discussed drafting a policy to address roadside incidents causing damage to town infrastructure and Tim McGowan agreed to speak with the vehicle owner to clarify circumstances and follow up with a letter if needed.
The board noted other highway maintenance needs such as a blocked culvert report on Water Works Road and ongoing tree‑row maintenance; a $1,800 invoice to Sargent’s Tree Service for ROW tree removal was included on the accounts payable warrant.
