“Sasha” (staff) told the board the state received a $67,000,000 CDBG‑DR allocation and that categories include approximately $15,000,000 for infrastructure and $3,000,000 for planning. Staff said they have identified about $13,000,000 in shovel‑ready projects in Lamoille County and plan to submit pre‑applications and a $1,000,000 planning grant application where appropriate. Because the state set an application deadline of Aug. 5, staff asked the board to authorize the pre‑applications now so the region can be competitive.
Board members agreed to the request and approved a motion to let staff proceed, schedule the public hearings and finalize any required resolutions. The board and staff said they will notify municipalities and partner communities about any requests for local support or testimony during public hearings. Staff noted the state’s new online system is still being finalized and that some application details could be clarified in the coming weeks.
Next steps: staff will circulate the pre‑application list to the board, schedule public hearings as required by the program, and return to the board with final resolution language if the state requires a particular template or wording.
