Task force presses for clearer outcome measures and concordance of assessment data

Legislators pressed for clearer, apples-to-apples measures of student outcomes before making major funding changes. Senator Erickson said, "More money in and of itself is not the answer," and asked staff to produce evidence showing how at-risk and other weighted funds affect outcomes. Members requested concordance (crosswalk) tables to compare this year’s test scores with prior cut scores, disaggregated subgroup trends (including special education categories), and postsecondary remediation rates.
Director Rooker and KLRD staff pointed to prior analyses, including the Taylor cost-function study used in the Gannon remedy, and agreed to assemble a set of crosswalk charts and subgroup trend lines for upcoming meetings. The committee planned a future session to review those measures and to discuss how accountability (accreditation) and funding policy might be aligned.
