LCPC staff deliver second part of essentials of land-use planning training

Seth Jensen presented the second part of the "Essentials of Land Use Planning" training at the Jan. 27 meeting and emphasized the difference between municipal and LCPC regional planning processes.
Jensen walked through roles and responsibilities in land use planning (legislative roles such as selectboards, judicial functions such as planning commissions, and administrative roles such as town administrators) and then discussed how to implement plans using regulatory and non-regulatory approaches. "This training was developed for the municipal planning process, which is different from that of the LCPC regional planning process," Jensen cautioned.
The presentation was framed as educational; no board action was taken on training content. Members thanked staff for the summary and discussion.
