Grant for Red Village stream work likely blocked by need for neighboring landowner permission, board told
Summary
Town staff said a grant application to fix stream flow on Red Village Road may be denied because the recommended engineering solution requires work on neighboring land, and the town has not secured the necessary landowner permission.

The selectboard discussed a grant application intended to fix stream flow at Red Village Road and heard that the engineers recommended widening the opposite side of the watercourse, which would require permission from a neighboring landowner.
Clerk (S2) said Marla had applied for a grant due Oct. 31 to address stream flow, but relayed the engineer's (Jared Ford) assessment that widening the other side of the watercourse would be necessary. "He said we will not be approved for the grant," S2 reported, noting that the town would need landowner permission and likely additional engineering to proceed. Board members agreed the item is a priority but acknowledged the practical barrier of securing permission from the adjacent landowner.
