Select board reviews emergency operations plan and EOC activation roles

Staff told the Select Board they will draft a formal emergency operations plan in the coming nine months that captures hazards, operating assumptions and resource needs. "I have a photocopy. ... You go through all hazards and threats. You gotta be flexible," the staff member said, explaining that the plan will be exercised during a state table-top in October.
The staff member also urged the board to clarify EOC activation authority—naming the select board, the emergency management director or alternates—and outlined logistical needs including a separate physical EOC space, communications bandwidth, a status board for field tracking and volunteer spotters to log truckloads and locations during a flood event. "What got us last summer was that the state didn't activate their EOC for our flooding," the staff member said, urging local readiness.
