The Londonderry Planning Commission on Oct. 28 reviewed Chapter 1 of proposed zoning bylaws led by Zoning Administrator Will Goodwin. Commissioners and visitors discussed clarifications and edits drawn from other towns’ bylaws and prior Londonderry language, focusing on where state regulations require specific local rules for safety and environmental protection.
“[W]e recommend clarifying edits based on other towns,” Will Goodwin said while walking commissioners through the chapter. Selectboard member James Ameden Jr. described state rules that apply to fuel tanks based on his experience as a propane delivery driver, and resident Maya Drummond described the fuel tanks at her residence as examples used to test the proposed language. Commissioners agreed to continue by moving Chapter 3 to the next meeting agenda so map and signage items could be discussed in detail.
The discussion also touched on outdoor lighting, public art, signage, mobile food service, yard sales, home businesses and making event permitting easier. The commission did not adopt final bylaws at the meeting; it deferred remaining chapters to future meetings and scheduled additional review of the zoning map and signage at the next session.
