Planning Commission considers restoring older district map, adding shoreland and commercial areas

Zoning Administrator Will Goodwin recommended reverting to older district designations with targeted changes during the commission's Feb. 10 meeting. He proposed reintroducing shoreland districts, naming Lowell Lake and Gale Meadows as examples, and suggested expanding the commercial district to include Smith’s Mill and Laser’s.
Goodwin noted the town has two flood-zone designations to consider—floodway and flood fringe—and that Zone AO is a flood insurance designation. He stated the town will follow state standards for flood-zone construction and that much of South Londonderry is likely to fall in a flood zone; commissioners directed Goodwin to prepare a list of old and new uses and present it at the next meeting.
