The Londonderry Selectboard on May 19 adopted a Village Wastewater Ordinance and set a 60-day petition window under state law before the ordinance takes effect. The motion to adopt the ordinance was made by Selectboard member Martha Dale and seconded by Chair Tom Cavanagh; the vote was unanimous.
Matt Bachler of the Windham Regional Commission told the board a single final wording correction had been made to Section 16 (Pre-Treatment and Flow Equalization). He noted Item 3 was amended to state that “interceptors shall be provided when, in the option of the Board or as required by State regulations.” Bachler said the ordinance had been thoroughly reviewed and the next step is outreach and discussion with residents. Under the procedures cited in the minutes, the ordinance will take effect unless a petition is filed under 24 V.S.A. § 1973(b) within the 60-day period.
The Selectboard packet and meeting minutes note the board's immediate next steps include starting conversations with residents about the ordinance language and implementation timeline. No specific connection-fee schedule was approved at the time of adoption; the board asked the Village Wastewater Committee to return with clarified fee-structure options before outreach and application materials are distributed.
