Board discusses reinstating breakfast fee and raising after-school program rate

Superintendent Tyson Eslinger presented two related items on student fees. He said the district presently loses more than $32,000 in potential breakfast revenue by not charging paid students and proposed reinstating a breakfast fee of $2.10 for paid students and $0.30 for reduced-price students while maintaining free meals for eligible students. The board requested data on average breakfast participation prior to COVID to inform a June decision.
Eslinger also said the After School Program operates at a deficit of about $16,000 and recommended increasing the daily fee from $3 to $5; the board agreed to place the fee change on the June agenda for formal action.
