Eslinger said the district may need to transfer $1,000,000 from the general fund to cover SPED shortfalls and identified roughly $500,000 in expense reductions — including one administrative position and some teaching positions — as possible steps to restore fiscal balance.
Eslinger also reported an anticipated $15,000 decrease in Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) funding for the coming year and noted that the board will consider early-graduate approvals for 2027 at the June meeting. The superintendent framed the measures as stewardship of taxpayer dollars and said administration will return with more precise options during upcoming budget discussions and the board retreat.
