Barry Randell asks Londonderry DRB for setback variance to build indoor therapy pool at 609 Boynton Road

Barry Randell told the Town of Londonderry Development Review Board on May 21, 2025, that he needs a side-boundary setback variance for his property at 609 Boynton Road in the RR3 zoning district so he can build an indoor pool to be used for physical therapy. Randell said his lot is “very narrow” and that steep terrain behind the house leaves no location that could be accessed from the house without a variance and that he had reviewed the variance criteria in the town zoning bylaws.

Board members reviewed the materials submitted with the application, asked the applicant questions and reported on site visits. Several board members described the steep terrain behind the house as a limiting factor. The board voted to close the public portion of the meeting and enter executive session on a motion by Rich Phelan, seconded by Denis Pinkernell; that motion passed unanimously. The board deliberated in executive session and later voted on the variance application; the minutes do not record the vote tally or the final disposition of the application. The board discussed a continuation mechanism should one be necessary and noted the next regular meeting is scheduled for June 18, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
