Town Clerk Allison Marino presented proposed updates to Londonderry’s Social Services Appropriations Policy intended to align town practice with 24 V.S.A. §2691. Under the draft, organizations that do not meet the statute’s definition of a “social service” agency would instead be classified as municipal services, community services, or moved to a specific budget line.
Marino said social service agencies applying for town appropriations would be required to submit a petition every five years, if they missed a year, or if the monetary request changes; the town would provide fair warning of these policy updates to organizations that requested appropriations at the March 2025 Town Meeting and post the policy on the town website. The Selectboard will review the proposed updates and place the item on a future agenda for further consideration.
