Mulberry approves $1,500 for breathing masks, sends staff to KRWA training

Fire Chief and city plant operator Ernie Chase told the council the department had no fire calls since the last meeting, handled four medical calls and added three volunteer members. He said at least two new breathing-apparatus masks are needed and estimated a cost of about $500 per mask. "Maybe $500 each," Chase said when asked; the council approved a $1,500 allocation so he could proceed with the purchases (motion by TJ Duncan, second by Allan Adelman, motion carried).
Chase also reported that safety equipment for the electric department (about $2,700) has been ordered, the bucket truck is out of service pending Altec repair, and the tanker needs brake work at Henegar's. The council approved travel for Ernie and Josh to attend the KRWA conference in March; staff were directed to book rooms before they fill up.
