Londonderry commission to take phased approach to zoning bylaw rewrite

Commissioners debated specific topics that the draft bylaw will need to address, including distinctions between conditional use and permitted use, how an "event menu" could apply in rural areas, and provisions that could affect gas stations, frontage requirements and lighting compliance. Tom Cavanagh flagged concerns about potential effects on gas stations and lighting standards that the commission will need to track as wording is refined.
Members agreed to review sections 1 and 3 and bring detailed comments to the next meeting so the group can focus substantive edits in smaller, manageable blocks. The phased approach aims to allow margin notes and iterative review rather than attempting a single comprehensive redraft in one meeting.
