Committee forwards ordinance to fold fireworks sales permit into business licenses

The Finance, Legal and Public Safety Committee recommended forwarding Ordinance No. 789 to City Council with a recommendation of approval. The measure would add the fireworks sales permit into the city’s business-license code so fireworks sales would be regulated under the same chapter as other business activities.
Patton told the committee that legal staff reviewed the draft and made minor language updates to ensure compliance with codified law. “Legal reviewed this and did some updated language because there was some stuff when we were moving it over,” Patton said. After brief discussion the committee voted affirmatively to forward the ordinance to council for consideration.
