At the May 18 Meeker Public Works Authority meeting, Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn reported that Dan Clay has been hired and noted Clay's prior experience with the Town's water system. Wilbourn said the wastewater plant will need repairs to aging valves and components and that staff are replacing older brass manual‑read meters with cellular/cloud electronic meters.
Wilbourn explained the Town will use COEDD/REAP grant funding of approximately $90,000 for meter parts and replacement items to help transition the system; the Town has about 400 water meters and the grant work should bring the Town close to a 50% conversion with a goal of completing full conversion over the next couple of years. Wilbourn also noted the Town is awaiting a contract from Eastside (contractor) for unspecified work.
