Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn told trustees May 18 he could mow larger areas around the Town lake using his larger tractor and a 15‑foot mower, estimating the job would take roughly six hours and cost about $1,000. Wilbourn asked whether the work should be handled by contract or paid at his regular hourly rate.
Trustee Kenneth Massey said using Wilbourn's equipment would likely remain less expensive than hiring an outside contractor and noted that contractors with comparable equipment are difficult to find. A member of the public urged the Town to open bidding for transparency; Wilbourn responded that the anticipated cost likely did not meet the legal threshold requiring a formal bid but he was seeking direction from the Board before performing the work. No formal board action was taken.
