During detailed review of the first‑draft 2026–27 budgets on May 18, board members raised questions about police department spending, payroll line items, and duplicate entries in the spreadsheet. Trustees also noted rising health and property insurance costs compared with the prior year.
After line‑by‑line review, Trustee Lanny Thompson moved (seconded by Kenneth Massey) to table the Town budget for the June meeting so all board members could review and ask additional questions; the motion carried with Thompson, Massey and Mayor Donna Weber voting yea. The Meeker Public Works Authority followed by tabling its 2026–27 PWA budget for the same reason; Weber moved to table the PWA budget, Massey seconded, and the motion carried.
Clerk Kimberly Haynes indicated the Town budget on May 18 was a first draft and that further cleanup and inquiries are expected ahead of the June meeting.
