Meeker trustees set June 9 public meeting to discuss proposed sales tax increase

The Meeker Board of Trustees voted May 18 to schedule a public opinion meeting for Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Donna Weber made the motion, which Trustee Kenneth Massey seconded; trustees Thompson, Massey and Weber voted in favor.
The meeting will provide residents an opportunity to ask questions and offer input before the board considers any call for a special election on a proposed sales tax increase intended to support municipal operations, public safety, infrastructure, beautification, maintenance and related municipal purposes. Trustee Massey said he expected town‑hall or public opinion meetings to be held before any taxation action; Weber agreed and told the board two special meetings should be scheduled for public comment.
No motion to place a tax measure on the ballot was taken at the May 18 meeting. The scheduled June 9 meeting is the next formal chance for public comment; the board said additional public meetings could be scheduled if needed.
