The City of Box Elder Planning Commission on Feb. 24 moved unanimously to forward recommendations to City Council on multiple land-use items including minor plats, two rezonings and a floodplain development permit. The actions include a minor plat splitting a parcel into Lots 58A and 58B in Freedom Estates Subdivision No. 2, a rezoning recommendation for Lot 58A to General Light Industrial (Ordinance 784), a recommendation to rezone Lot 58B to Planned Development (Ordinance 785), approval of a separate Freedom Tract minor plat, and a recommendation to approve a floodplain development permit for a Sunnydale Estates lot.
Laura Patton, the city’s finance director and planning staff presenter, told the commission that one of the parcels “has a drainage, a major drainage easement running through it,” and that the lot split and rezonings were largely intended to match the adjacent zoning and to make the properties usable. The commission asked no public commenters to speak; the chair closed the public hearings and each item passed by roll call. The items will next go to City Council for final action.
