Chief Joey Adelman resigns; council accepts resignation
Summary
Chief of Police Joey Adelman informed the council he accepted another opportunity and tendered his resignation; the council accepted it and agreed he would work for a short transition period.
Mayor Randy Jones announced during the April 14 meeting that Chief of Police Joey Adelman had been offered an opportunity elsewhere and had submitted his resignation. Joey told the council he would stay on for a couple more weeks "whatever the city needs" to help the department through the transition.
The council discussed personnel matters in executive session and then returned to regular session, where Ken Collins moved to accept Joey’s resignation; TJ Duncan seconded and the motion carried. No replacement timeline or hiring plan was recorded in the minutes.
During the meeting Joey also reported operational matters in his monthly report, including that recruit RJ started the academy and that the department will need ammunition and will soon hold firearms qualification. He noted Arma donated a light bar for a department vehicle and Uplink quoted approximately $600 for installation.
