Treasurer's report: water fund up year-over-year but hit by maintenance costs

At the Feb. 10 meeting, Liz Hart presented the treasurer's report and a monthly budget update. She said the water fund currently shows roughly $14,000 more than at the same time last year, but that recent expenses—meter purchases, truck repairs and a water-tower maintenance contract exceeding $5,000—are driving a reported loss in the water line.
Mayor Randy Jones asked why the water line was showing a loss despite the year-over-year increase; Liz named the specific cost drivers above. Council members agreed staff would track capital and repair spending; Allan Adleman asked to review the city's CDS and coordinate a records review with Liz and Amy the clerk.
Liz also said the city received its first disbursement from the county, which helped fund operations. The council approved the treasurer's report on a motion by TJ Duncan, seconded by Debra Rice.
