Council adopts first 2026 budget amendment, adds $35,000 for digital reader boards

Kristen Reed, the city's finance director, presented the second reading of Ordinance 2841, the first budget amendment for 2026. Reed said she made small adjustments between readings and added $35,000 to pay for two digital reader boards, funded from the street fund and allocated across IT funds. She also reported that Fund 35 (Facilities Fund) would see its reserve balance fall below the city's reserve policy as a result of this amendment.
A committee report indicated full support for the amendment; Councilmember Cooper Frater moved to approve the ordinance on second reading and the council approved it by voice vote. Reed said staff is available to answer any follow-up financial questions and noted the transfer conforms to the city's IT allocation methodology.
