Council approves $15,000 allocation for Fourth of July parade security and staffing

The Enumclaw City Council approved Resolution No. 1881 on June 22 to authorize how previously approved parade security funds will be allocated for the July 4 events.
Parks Director Lina Hicks (speaker 3) described the proposal to use the previously authorized $15,000 as follows: $8,500 to purchase barriers to line the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff, and $4,000 to be allocated to the Chamber of Commerce for hiring security and event staffing. “The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up of how we're going to spend it,” Hicks said, and staff recommended approval.
Councilmember (speaker 4) moved to approve Resolution No. 1881 and a second was given; Mayor called for the vote and the resolution passed by voice vote with no opposition announced.
The action is limited to allocating funds previously authorized; the resolution does not change the total amount authorized for parade security and the council did not request an additional appropriation at the meeting.
