Wellness foundation tells council mental-health program has grown; senior meals serve hundreds weekly

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, presented program results to the Eden Plus City Council on July 13, saying the foundation now serves 82 students across local schools and provides hot meals to dozens of seniors. "Our mental health program has grown immensely," Verhus told the council, and she urged continued partnership as the foundation recruits a permanent executive director.
Verhus detailed school-based metrics: 62 students at Enumclaw High School, nine at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain, and reported six high-school students "graduated from therapy." She said the foundation prepares about 400 meals each week for senior meal deliveries and has roughly 87 active volunteers. Verhus noted a small increase in average GPA and an improvement in a behavioral-intervention metric the foundation tracks. She closed by thanking the council for past support and offering to answer follow-up questions by email or phone.
