Meeker Board adopts ordinance authorizing concealed carry for certain municipal officials

The Meeker Board of Trustees voted to adopt Ordinance 25-26-004, which amends Chapter 2 (Administration) to authorize municipal elected officials, municipal judges and certain municipal employees to carry concealed firearms pursuant to the municipal carry act. Mayor Donna Weber moved adoption and Aaron Head seconded; the motion carried with Thompson, Orman, Head and Weber voting in favor.
The Board also enacted the ordinance’s emergency clause so the changes take effect immediately; Weber moved the emergency clause and Orman seconded, and the motion carried with the same recorded vote. The ordinance text recorded in the minutes states the measure "authorizing municipal elected officials, municipal judges and certain employees to carry concealed firearms for self-defense pursuant to the municipal carry act; providing for severability and declaring an emergency."
Board members offered no amendments in the minutes. The ordinance was recorded as adopted and the emergency clause enacted; the Board did not record any dissenting votes on either motion.
