Bruce Martin told the committee the water division maintains approximately 2,800 water accounts, 92 miles of water main, 686 fire hydrants and nearly 1,800 valves and that hydro excavation (soft digging) is required for many maintenance tasks. RamVac HX-9 truck mounted hydrovac unit," he said, noting the equipment will be used for valve vaults, hydrant maintenance and as emergency backup for wastewater work if needed.
Martin said the purchase was included in the 2026 water enterprise fund budget and that the total purchase price is $564,712 leased over a five-year term; a committee member moved and the committee approved forwarding Resolution 26-19 to council with a recommendation to approve.
