An addendum item asked the court to approve a security system for the Welland Heritage Center funded through a CDBG-CV project (project number 708000001014). Staff explained the funding agency requires an alarm system that connects to law enforcement and that the project is progressing toward completion.
Because telco services needed for alarm connectivity are not yet available at the site, the county's vendor proposed adding a cellular/LTE backup to allow testing and to meet the grant's punch-list requirements. A staff representative said going cellular "is a speedier process" and that the vendor could provide the LTE connection until telco services are active. Commissioners voted to approve installation to keep the project on schedule and asked staff to document vendor costs and compliance with grant requirements.
The court also discussed the lease-purchase of equipment and other addendum items in the same sequence of business before moving to executive session.
