Assistant to the City Administrator Chris Bauman presented a termination motion. Commissioner Banzet moved to terminate Rachel Norman effective July 17, 2024; Commissioner Vail-Keller seconded and the motion carried. Later in the meeting the board recessed to an executive session that included the governing body, the City Administrator (when present), City Clerk and Police Chief to discuss an individual employee’s performance under the non-elected personnel exception KSA 75-4319(b)(1). The live stream was paused during the executive session and the meeting reconvened at 3:35 p.m. with no public action taken on matters discussed in the closed session.
Separately, the board accepted the resignation of Officer Ryan K. Miller effective Aug. 25, 2024; Commissioner Banzet moved to accept the resignation, seconded by Commissioner Vail-Keller, and the motion carried. No further disciplinary or personnel details were recorded in the public minutes.
