Willacy County welcomes new district extension administrator from Texas A&M

"I'm officially making the rounds to all of the counties in District 12, so I'm happy to start this week in Willacy County," Valdez told the court, and highlighted the district's outreach: "the district has reached almost 500,000 educational contacts with almost 7,500 educational programs delivered." The materials include county profiles and a reminder that extension programming is guided by a community needs assessment conducted every five years.
County staff said the newsletter includes local agriculture and demographic statistics to inform programming. Commissioners were invited to suggest topics for an annual continuous education conference set for Friday, December 11 in Laredo and to scan a QR code on the materials to propose speakers or topics.
The presentation was informational and the court had no action items tied to the introduction.
