Council approves USDA SEARCH grant documents to pursue an engineering study of water plant

The council discussed pursuing an engineering study of the city water plant funded through the USDA SEARCH Grant. Accountant Liz Hart said the council needs to start budget work and noted documents from the USDA required approval and signatures. The council voted to accept the letter of conditions, to meet the conditions, and to request obligation of funds; motions to accept and request were moved and seconded and carried.
Councilmembers noted the study is an initial engineering step to evaluate the water plant and that grant documents must be signed to proceed. The record shows a series of motions to move forward with grant conditions rather than any final construction authorization.
