Local nonprofit reports mental-health gains in Enumclaw schools, expands senior meal deliveries

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, told the Eden Plus City Council the nonprofit’s school mental-health program has “served a total of 82 students,” including 62 at Enumclaw High School, nine at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain.
Verhus said program metrics show improvement: she reported the average behavioral metric rose from 0.69 to 1.016 in 2025–26 and described that change as a “huge improvement.” She also said the average GPA for the cohort rose slightly (about 1.25 percent) and noted six EHS students “graduated from therapy.”
On nutrition services, Verhus said the senior hot‑meals program serves 66 seniors and that the foundation prepares about 400 meals from scratch each week with roughly 87 volunteers. “They received 6 meals weekly via 3 deliveries,” she said, describing deliveries on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Verhus asked council to continue supporting the foundation’s partnership with local schools and to direct questions to staff during follow-up. The presentation closed with council acknowledgment and a public‑record thanks to foundation volunteers.
