Shane O'Keefe reviewed the availability of planning grants for fiscal year 2025 and noted the town has used similar grants to support the North and South villages master plans and updates to zoning bylaws. O'Keefe said pursuing grant funding is an option but cautioned it can pull staff and commissioners away from higher-priority projects.
Commissioners discussed balancing grant opportunities with ongoing recovery work. Members emphasized the FEMA long-term recovery plan as a continuing priority; Jennifer Greenfield said the commission should think carefully before committing time to grant applications that could delay recovery-related zoning work. The commission did not vote on any grant applications at the Jan. 13 meeting and left follow-up planning to a future agenda.
